Nutley Cops Arrest Man After He Allegedly Pulls Knife During Fight
Nutley police found a bloody t-shirt on Ravine Avenue and searched for a knife near the Nutley Diner, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police arrested a Clifton man after he allegedly pulled a knife on a Kearny resident during a scuffle over a “female acquaintance” on Wednesday, authorities say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to a report of a fight in progress at Nutley Municipal Lot 1 around 10:40 p.m. The officers found a 22-year-old Kearny man at the scene with minor injuries, who told them that a man pulled a knife on him during the altercation and fled before police arrived.
The man told officers that his assailant – who was clad in a bloody t-shirt - fled towards Centre Street, police said.

Officers later found the bloody shirt on Ravine Avenue and later apprehended the suspected combatant – Michael Brown, 27, of Clifton – hiding behind a home on that block, authorities stated.
Police searched the area for a knife which was allegedly discarded in the area of the Nutley Diner but didn’t find a weapon, authorities said.

Officers arrested Brown and charged him with aggravated assault and weapon possession. Police transported him to Essex County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo said that although the altercation appeared to be “related to a common female acquaintance,” the two men did not know one another prior to the encounter.
