Nutley Cops Find 35 Cats In ‘Unsanitary Conditions,’ Kitten-Napping Incident Reported

Nutley police reported that two cat-related incidents took place on Passaic Avenue.

Nutley, NJ – Nutley police reported that health officials found 35 cats living in “unsanitary conditions” at a Passaic Avenue home last week.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers were called to the home on July 12 after receiving a report of a “hazardous condition” involving felines at that location. When police arrived on scene with township health officials, they found that the home’s resident had 35 cats on the premises in “unsanitary conditions.”

The municipal health department assumed control of the investigation and is working with resident to remediate the unsanitary conditions, police stated in news release.

Nutley police also reported an incident the same day involving an alleged kitten-napping incident at an East Passaic Avenue home. According to police, the homeowner told officers that a neighbor entered her rear porch and took multiple kittens from her home without permission.

Nutley police said that the neighbor told officers that they took the kittens, and that they allegedly “needed to be fed.”
