Nutley Cops: NJ Transit Bus Rider Had Gun In Fanny Pack

Nutley police arrested a Newark man riding a NJ Transit bus after finding a loaded, .35 caliber handgun in his fanny pack.

Nutley police arrested a Newark man riding a NJ Transit bus last week after finding a loaded, .35 caliber handgun in his fanny pack.

According to police, officers responded to a call of “unwanted parties” riding on a NJ Transit bus in the area of Washington Avenue on Oct. 15.

After conducting field interviews, officers found that one rider - Jaquan Daniels, 22 – had an outstanding warrant out of Newark.

Police arrested Daniels, and during a subsequent search, found a loaded, .35 caliber handgun in his fanny pack.

Authorities transported Daniels to Police Headquarters and charged him with unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police then transported Daniels to the Essex County Correctional Facility after he was unable to post his $25,000 bail.
