NUTLEY, NJ — A dispute over a restaurant bill in Nutley that summoned the local police last week ended with an agreement to split the check, authorities said.
According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to a local eatery on Franklin Avenue on Feb. 22 when a couple of patrons refused to pay a $97 bill.
The couple told Nutley officers that they had been eating with two other people that night. They said that they placed money down on the check to pay for their share of the meal, but that their dining companions took the money and left in their Mercedes SUV, leaving them stuck with the entire tab.
