Nutley EMS Crew Rushes Stroke Victim To Mountainside Hospital

Nutley EMS responders rescued a 78-year-old man having a stroke, hospital administrators said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Nutley EMS responders recently came to the rescue of a 78-year-old man having a stroke, rushing the senior citizen to Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, hospital officials said.

Mountainside Medical Center staff offered a statement about the rescue on social media, offering their congratulations on a “great save”:

“[The] Nutley Volunteer Emergency & Rescue Squad brought a 78-year-old male experiencing symptoms of a stroke to Mountainside Medical Center. The patient was given t-PA and then transported to the Neurointerventional Lab where Dr. Daniel Walzman performed an acute mechanical thrombectomy and successfully removed a clot. Immediately following the procedure, the patient was able to move both arms and both legs and follow commands he was given. He was then admitted into the ICU.”
