Nutley Fire On Easter Sunday Leaves Family Without Shelter, Kills Dog: Officials

A fire in Nutley on Easter Sunday left a family of four without shelter and killed their pet dog, authorities say.

NUTLEY, NJ — A fire in Nutley on Easter Sunday left a family of four without shelter and killed their pet dog, according to authorities.

Nutley firefighters arrived at the scene of the Overlook Terrace blaze around 7:30 p.m., observing heavy smoke in the front of the home. After Nutley firefighters extinguished the flames, Belleville firefighters searched the house, finding a deceased pet dog, NorthJersey.com reported.

The home’s tenants – a husband, wife, two children and a nanny – weren’t present at the time of the blaze; no citizens or firefighters suffered injuries during the incident, Nutley authorities told NorthJersey.com.

Mutual aid was provided by the Bloomfield, Belleville and Montclair Fire Departments, TAP Into Nutley stated.
