NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley is glowing blue and yellow in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Nutley Mayor Mauro Tucci recently announced that the Nutley Board of Commissioners voted to change the lighting on the township’s buildings in support of Ukraine, which was invaded by Russian forces last week.

“The Township of Nutley has illuminated our public buildings in the national blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in the wake of Russia's invasion,” Tucci said. “We are praying for Ukraine and the innocent families that are in harm's way.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has seen global condemnation after launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The military conflict has already cost at least 102 civilian lives, with the true figure feared to be even higher, U.N. human rights chief Michelle Bachelet said Monday.

The invasion of Ukraine followed a series of failed diplomatic efforts, NPR reported. It marks the largest military attack of one state against another on the European continent since the Second World War, Fox News stated.

In a televised statement, Putin warned other countries that any attempt to interfere in Ukraine would "lead to consequences you have never seen in history."
