Nutley Hedge Fund Guru Makes Forbes ’30 Under 30’ List

Forbes named Nutley native Michael Alfaro among its list of the "brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers."

NUTLEY, NJ — Forbes recently named Nutley native Michael Alfaro to its “30 Under 30” list of the “brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers.”

Alfaro now lives in New York City and works as head of E&P investing at the top-performing Zimmer Partners hedge fund, focused on the U.S. oil and gas sector, according to Forbes.

The 28-year-old is a graduate of Cornell University and joined Zimmer after stints in commodities at Morgan Stanley and equity research at UBS. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Franklin Middle School before graduating from Nutley High School in 2006.

Alfaro told NorthJersey.com that he was “drawn to the stock-ticker section” as a child.

“I had no idea what it meant, but I loved tracking and seeing what would go up or down every day,” he told a reporter.
