In Nutley: Marijuana Arrests / Doorbell Theft / Damaged Awnings / Tree Limb Smashes Car

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Nutley police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Criminal Mischief – Franklin Avenue - The victim walked into headquarters to state that their awnings located on the south side of the building had damage. There were two separate spots that were torn. It is not known for sure what made the damage, but could possibly be the truck that delivers on Wednesdays.

Theft – Washington Avenue - The landlord of the building reported that they installed two wireless door bells on the front door and the west side door of their building and today observed both door bells were missing. The wireless door bells are valued at approx. $15 for both.

Motor Vehicle Stop – Franklin Avenue – Officers stopped a vehicle for being unregistered. During the stop, the driver was found to have a bag of what appeared to be marijuana and a glass pipe. The green substance was tested and came back with positive results. The 18-year-old Belleville teen was placed under arrest, transported to headquarters, processed, and charged with possession of CDS under 50, drug paraphernalia, and additionally received motor vehicle summonses for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and CDS in a motor vehicle.

Arrest On Warrant – Park Avenue – A party known to officers as having an outstanding warrant was seen in the parking lot. After confirming the NJ Wanted was still active, Ozgun Ustun, 20 of Carlstadt, was placed under arrest. A bag of marijuana was found in his left pocket and subsequently, Ustun was charged with possession of CDS. He was processed, given a copy of the Nutley charge, was able to post bail on the warrant, and was released. No further action needed.

9/8/15

Motor Vehicle Stop – Route 21 – A motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of Kenneth Felder, 24, of Englewood. He was transported to headquarters without incident and was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana less than 50 grams, and (2) counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was printed, processed, and additionally given two tickets for driving while suspended and failure to signal while changing lanes. Felder was notified of his court date, given a copy of his summonses and released.

Motor Vehicle Stop – Centre Street – A motor vehicle stop for suspended registration resulted in the arrest of Christos Eftychiadis, 38, of Nutley, for an outstanding warrant out of Totowa. He was transported to headquarters without incident, and able to post the appropriate bail. Eftychiadis was advised to contact Totowa Boro for a new court date, was issued two motor vehicle summonses for suspended registration and failure to possess insurance card, and advised of his Nutley Court date upon release.

9/9/15

Property damage – Wilson Street – Homeowner reported damage to their vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. A landscaping company was in the area and the victim believed they may be responsible for the damage. There were some rocks in the driveway which could have damaged the vehicle. The employee of the company did not feel that the damage was caused by their equipment. Both parties were advised that this is a civil matter and they wished for it to be documented.

Property Damage – Ravine Avenue – Homeowner reported a large tree limb broke off a tree and struck their vehicle causing damage to the rear section of the roof and smashing the rear window. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied in the driveway when the incident occurred. The victim was advised of how to acquire a copy of this report.
