Nutley Police Arrest Alleged Home Burglar From Belleville

Police recovered thousands of dollars of proceeds from a local pawn broker.

Nutley police arrested a 24-year-old Belleville man on Wednesday for allegedly burglarizing a Romano Street home on Aug. 4.

According to police, Dexter Banks stood on a trash can and entered the home through an unlocked window. Once inside, Banks allegedly stole items from the master bedroom.

After recovering thousands of dollars of proceeds allegedly stolen from the victimized home at a local pawn shop, Nutley police detectives drafted a warrant for Banks’ arrest.

Police charged Banks with Burglary, Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. In addition, Banks was wanted by Belleville Police for over $1,200 in outstanding warrants.

Banks’ bail was set at $15,000 in Nutley.
