Nutley Police Ask For Help Solving String Of Car Crimes

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police are asking anyone with surveillance video of a recent string of vehicle crimes to help authorities catch the perpetrators.

According to the Nutley Police Department, several vehicles were burglarized Tuesday morning between 2 and 4 a.m. on Whitford Avenue, Franklin Avenue, Vreeland Avenue and Highfield Lane.

The vehicles’ windows were found shattered, with items stolen from inside, police said.

Police Director Alphonse Petracco said the burglaries were different than others that the town has been experiencing recently: all the vehicles were locked.

In addition to the above thefts, a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked on Hancox Avenue, police said.

“Chief Thomas Strumolo and I are continuing our efforts to be proactive,” Petracco said.

“We encourage all our residents to help keep an eye out for suspicious activity,” he continued. “Most of the crimes are occurring during the early morning hours. If you see anything unusual, call – we will respond.”
