Nutley Police Department Earns Reaccreditation

The recognition was a result of a "comprehensive inspection process that took place over the course of several months," Nutley police say.

Nutley, NJ – The Nutley Police Department is still an accredited police agency in New Jersey.

According to a police news release, the Nutley Police Department was officially awarded re-accreditation status by the NJSACOP in March of 2015.

On April 19, a New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police representative visited with Nutley police and township officials to present the NPD’s award.

“Police accreditation is accomplished through the creation of approved policies and procedures,” Nutley police stated in a release. “There are over one hundred standards that must be met by an agency in order to remain in compliance with the criteria set forth by the NJSACOP.”

According to the NPD, the recognition was a result of a comprehensive inspection process that took place over the course of several months and culminated with a rigorous on-site evaluation conducted by a team of professional inspectors.

Following this inspection, Nutley’s chief of police and accreditation manager were called before a panel comprised of high-ranking NJSACOP officials to answer questions about the accreditation process for the agency.

The Nutley Police Department originally earned accreditation status on November 10, 2011. The re-accreditation cycle lasts approximately three years before the department is scheduled for reassessment and inspection. During this three year cycle, an agency must ensure that the current polices are up to date with the latest standards in the field and all updates to state and federal laws.
