Nutley Police Encounter Bat-Wielding Man, 'Intoxicated' Runner
Nutley Police Department: An intoxicated man was seen running through backyards. A man with a baseball bat was yelling at people in a park.
NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police recently responded to a pair of reports about a “suspicious person,” including an intoxicated man running through backyards, and a man with a baseball bat yelling at people in Kingsland Park, authorities said Wednesday.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:
Sept. 19 – “Officers responded to Cherry Place regarding an intoxicated male party running through the backyards. The male was found inside a fenced in yard and stated to police that he was intoxicated and trying to find his friend’s home. He had no exact address, but thought he would recognize it by the backyard. The actor had no idea how he arrived in Nutley after drinking in Passaic. The actor agreed to be transported to Clara Maass Medical Center due to his extreme intoxication. The resident did not report any damage to their property.”

Sept. 25 – “A report of a tall, thin man with no shoes and a baseball bat yelling at people near the bathroom in Kingsland Park was received and officers responded. Lonnie Watlington, 39, of Brooklyn, was placed under arrest for having an active warrant out of New York City for second degree assault. He was transported with his personal items, to the county jail, awaiting extradition to New York.”
