NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police recently responded to three separate missing persons cases in five days, including one on Christmas.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents recently took place in the township.

Dec. 22 – “Parents of a missing 16-year-old reported to police that they dropped their 16-year-old off in Newark to attend a college party and when they did not hear from them two hours later made a missing person report. Police worked with Newark and surrounding agencies in an attempt to locate the teenager. Police followed leads into Linden and Jersey City before locating the teen at a McDonald’s in Belleville. The child was returned home at 5 a.m.”

Dec. 25 – “Nutley police took a report regarding a missing 62-year-old man who has a medical condition. He was reported as being last seen at 3 p.m. on Harrison Street in Nutley. Police, Hudson County Sheriff K-9s and detectives searched for [the man], who was located in the early morning hours the following day at Belleville Avenue and Broad Street in Bloomfield by Bloomfield police. He was checked by the [Nutley Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad] because he was in the cold for a prolonged amount of time and returned home.”

Dec. 26 – “Nutley police located a 71-year-old woman suffering from dementia. Belleville police put out an alert to surrounding agencies that the Orange resident went missing from their town earlier this day. Nutley police, with the assistance of a concerned resident, located the woman at Rutgers and Washington Avenue. The [Nutley Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad] responded to check her before turning custody over to Belleville police.”
