Nutley Police Use Narcan Kit to Revive Overdosing Heroin User

Victim was found unconscious and unresponsive in a car on Ravine Avenue.

Nutley police used a Narcan kit to successfully revive an overdosing heroin user on May 1, possibly saving the resident’s life.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a possible overdose on Ravine Avenue, arriving on the scene to find an unconscious and unresponsive person in the passenger side of a vehicle.

After preparing a Narcan kit and administering to the victim, the person slowly regained consciousness, reported police.

He/she was taken to Mountainside Hospital for further evaluation.

In February, Essex County rolled out a new initiative, aimed at distributing Narcan kits to all 27 municipalities in its borders.
