Nutley Resident Finds Car Bumper, Minus Car
Even more perplexing was the state on the license plate: Massachusetts.

NUTLEY, NJ — They found the car bumper by the trash cans, Nutley police say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, that’s what a Wesley Place homeowner reportedly encountered on May 27. The homeowner told officers that it didn’t appear that any accident took place on the street or in the general area.
Even more perplexing was the state on the license plate: Massachusetts.

After learning that the plate was registered to Hertz LLC, Nutley police took the bumper back to headquarters and reached out to the company, which confirmed that it rented a car to a Belleville resident.
After speaking with their peers in Belleville, who confirmed that they had the suspected renter in custody, Nutley police surrendered custody of the bumper and plate to Belleville officers.
