NUTLEY, NJ — A Nutley resident was recently re-elected to his post at the head of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC).

Thomas Tucci Jr. was re-elected as chair of the agency at the commission’s annual reorganization meeting earlier this month. Tucci – who has been on the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission since 2014 – has served as its chair since 2015.

According to the PVSC website, it is one of the largest modern wastewater facilities in the eastern United States and one of the half-dozen largest in the entire country.

“I’m excited to continue working with our dedicated group of Commissioners, our diligent leadership team, and our outstanding employees,” Tucci said. “Working together, our personnel have done an amazing job helping the agency operate the fifth largest wastewater treatment facility in the United States on a 24/7/365 basis.”

“I am extremely honored to continue serving alongside all of them,” he added.

In addition, Luis Quintana was re-elected as vice chair, which he said was a tremendous honor.

“Our board of commissioners, our senior leaders and our talented and versatile staff work together tirelessly to provide quality wastewater treatment services, to plan for the agency’s future, and to remain attentive to our stakeholders within the various communities that we serve,” said Quintana, who has served as PVSC commissioner since 2015 and vice chair since 2018.

At the meeting, commissioner Elizabeth Calabrese was re-elected as board treasurer, and Albert Lukin was re-appointed as the clerk to the board of commissioners.

Commissioners John Cosgrove, James Doran, Joseph Isola, Hector Lora and Brendan Murphy, as well as several members of the PVSC management team, were also present at the virtual meeting.

Calabrese has served as a commissioner since 2015, Doran and Isola have served as commissioners since 2017, and Cosgrove, Lora and Murphy have served as commissioners since 2019.
