Nutley Residents Can Send Cops Anonymous Tips Via Cell Phone App

Nutley police now using TipSoft; Citizens can submit crime tips online or via text.

Anonymous tipsters can now pass information to the Nutley Police Department through a cell phone app.

According to a NJ.com report, the NPD is now using TipSoft, a free mobile phone app that allows citizens to anonymously submit crime-related tips via the internet or a text message.

The app also allows users to submit videos or photographs.

Tips can be submitted by visiting Tipsoft.com or by texting the word “CRIMES” (274637) with the keyword “NPDTIPS”.

On social media, most residents complimented the department’s embracement of the technology as a welcome development.

However, one commenter was less than enthusiastic about the new service:

“Wow, now you have an app to streamline how fast citizens can tattle tale on each other... Wonderful,” he wrote.
