Nutley Residents Report Vandalized Christmas Decorations: PD

At least three Nutley residents have reported criminal mischief involving damaged Christmas decorations, police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — At least three Nutley residents have reported criminal mischief involving damaged Christmas decorations this month. According to the Nutley Police Department, all of the incidents involved cut wires on the decorations.

Authorities provided the following information about each incident:

Dec. 9 (Highfield Lane) – “Response was made to the area on a report of criminal mischief. The homeowner stated that someone damaged their Christmas decoration. It was removed from the display and taken inside due to the wires being cut causing the lights not to function. The approximate value is $40. The victim was advised that should the actor be identified, they had the right to sign complaints with the Nutley Municipal Court.”

Dec. 15 (Highfield Lane) – “Response was made to the area for a report of criminal mischief. The victim showed officers a pair of wires attached to their Christmas displays had been cut. This is the second incident in a week that the same wires were cut.”

Dec. 17 (Mountainview Avenue) – “Response was made to speak with a homeowner regarding an incident of criminal mischief. The victim stated that they noticed their front Christmas lights were cut in three separate places. The victim was advised that if the actor was identified they had the right to sign a complaint at the Nutley Municipal Court.”
