Nutley Schools Released From Temporary ‘Secure In Place,’ Police Say

Nutley Police Department: "This was an isolated incident and at no time was the public at risk."

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police temporarily put multiple schools in a “secure in place” status on Wednesday morning, later clearing them when the incident was “safely resolved,” authorities said.

The Nutley Police Department issued a statement about the incident on social media:

“The Nutley Police Department is attempting to resolve a situation in the area of Ernest and Meacham Street. As a precaution, police have put schools in a ‘secure in place’ until the situation is resolved. We will put further information out as soon as possible.”

Police soon added an update:

“Nutley police, along with other agencies, have safely resolved an incident on Meacham Street. Nutley schools that were put on secure in place have been released. This was an isolated incident and at no time was the public at risk.”
