Nutley Seeks ‘Hometown Heroes’ For Tribute To Military Veterans

The clock is ticking down on a chance to submit a nominee for the 2025 launch of the Nutley Hometown Hero Banner Program.

NUTLEY, NJ — The clock is ticking down on a chance to submit a nominee for the 2025 launch of the Nutley Hometown Hero Banner Program.

The Nutley Board of Commissioners, in partnership with the American Legion Post 70 and VFW Post 493, recently announced that the town is seeking local military veterans and service members to be honored as part of the program.

The cutoff date for banners is Feb. 28.

According to a news release from the township:

“Nutley has always taken great pride in its patriotism and recognition of our local veterans and service members. This spring the township will be joining the multitudes of municipalities across our nation to honor those who protect us and keep us safe by installing military street banners throughout the township. Each banner will honor a veteran or active-duty service member by displaying their photo, branch of service and military service information.”

“Also, if you or a family member is on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and would like to be placed on our active-duty military banner or if already on and need to update information please reach out to us. If service members are no longer in the military, please provide a copy of their discharge papers.”

Honorees must meet the following criteria:

  • Nutley resident family member of someone who served or serving in the US Armed Forces
  • Nutley resident Veteran or Active Service Member in the US Armed Forces
  • Nutley or Bellville family member of veteran who served prior to 1902

People can submit one application per applicant with photo. Applications and information are available online here.
