Nutley Teen Has ‘Suspicious Encounter’ With Man In Minivan: Police
The teen told Nutley police that the incident happened at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and High Street as he was walking to school.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley authorities are warning residents about a “suspicious encounter” that allegedly took place between a 13-year-old local student and an older man in a minivan on Monday.
According to Nutley police, the incident reportedly happened around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and High Street while the youth was walking to school. The juvenile male told officers that an older man he didn’t know pulled next to him in a red minivan and offered him a ride.
The juvenile told officers that when he declined the ride, the man didn’t attempt to follow or “lure” him, police said.

The teen told officers the man was about 50-years-old, with grey hair and a gray goatee.
Nutley police stated that officers are investigating in an attempt to confirm that the incident “was nothing more than a ride offer.”
