“In an attempt to alleviate this problem and give the parks back to our people Commissioner [Mauro] Tucci and the Department of Parks and Public Property have called in the Geese Chasers to assist.

“The Geese Chasers bring in highly trained Border Collies that act as if they are hunting in the wild, quietly approach the geese without touching them and scare the geese away forcing them to relocate far away from Nutley.

“Our first attempt appeared to be successful and Commissioner Tucci plans to continue until we rid our community of these nuisance geese. Our goal is to humanely reduce and ultimately relocate these geese from our community. After watching the Geese Chasers in action we are confident that this strategy will help eliminate this growing population and the mess they leave behind.

“This program gives us great flexibility with an on-call service in addition to a scheduled maintenance program allowing us to identify specific time frames when the service will be most effective as we continue to identify the largest problem areas.

“Many methods have been suggested and after attempted were found ineffective. After monitoring this system we are confident we will get the best results with the Geese Chasers.”
