Missing Woman Found After Search Near Nutley, Belleville (UPDATE)

Police were concerned for the safety and welfare of a missing woman in Essex County, authorities said. She's since been found.

NUTLEY, NJ — UPDATE: Sonja Ramirez has been found, Nutley authorities said. Our original article follows below.

Nutley police are asking for the public’s help finding a missing, 47-year-old woman, authorities said Tuesday afternoon.

Township officials issued a missing person advisory for Sonja Ramirez, 47, of Nutley, on the municipal Facebook page.

According to town officials:

“Police were called to her residence on River Road earlier today when a close friend reported that she was unable to make contact since yesterday. Police investigating found her car door left open and surveillance video of her walking South on River Road near Belleville at approximately 8 a.m. this morning ... Ms. Sonja Ramirez suffers from a medical condition and at this time we are concerned for her safety and welfare. She is wearing a white shirt, dark or blue jean shorts, has dark, medium-length hair, 5 feet 6 inches and weighs between 141 and 160 pounds. Anyone that may have seen her are asked to contact the Nutley police at 973-284-4940.”
