Nutley Woman Robbed While Unloading Groceries: Police

Nutley police said a man robbed a local woman as she was unloading groceries, then got into a car and fled towards the Clifton Commons.

NUTLEY, NJ -- Nutley police said a man robbed a local woman as she was unloading groceries on Friday, then got into a car with the waiting driver and fled towards the Clifton Commons.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the robbery took place around 4 p.m. at the victim’s home on the north end of Washington Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call, the victim told them that an unidentified man “forcefully pulled her handbag from her arm” as she was unloading groceries.

The man then got into a dark-colored, four door sedan – possibly a Honda or Toyota – and fled the scene with the waiting driver north on Washington Avenue towards the Clifton Commons, the victim said.

The victim described her assailant as a male about 6 feet with a medium build, wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt with a scarf covering his face. A description of the driver was not available, police said.
