‘Ongoing Complaints’ About Postal Service In Nutley, Mayor Says
Nutley Mayor Mauro Tucci says he's been reaching out to Sen. Bob Menendez, Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Assemblyman Ralph Caputo about the issue.

NUTLEY, NJ — The mayor of Nutley has been reaching out to some of the town’s representatives in the state Assembly and U.S. Congress about “ongoing complaints” regarding the United States Postal Service (USPS), he recently reported.
According to Mayor Mauro Tucci, he has been “working closely” with U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill and state Assemblyman Ralph Caputo (District 28) to see what can be done about the situation.
“In an effort to assist individual community members, Congresswoman Sherrill’s office has directed us to share the following contact information and have any residents still experiencing delays or no delivery to contact her office directly,” Tucci wrote. “Please contact 973-526-5668 for further assistance within Congresswoman Sherrill’s office.”

“Senator Menendez’s office has also supplied a form that residents are welcome to fill out and outline any concerns regarding the USPS,” Tucci added. “That will be forwarded directly to USPS and residents will obtain a direct response from the USPS.”
“I hope our residents find this information to be helpful,” Tucci concluded. “We look forward to a quick resolve of the ongoing problem in the near future.”

In August, Patch posed the following question to our readers in Nutley and Belleville via our Neighbor Post section:
“We've heard a lot lately about cutbacks and slowdowns at the United States Postal Service. Have you noticed delays with your mail in Belleville or Nutley? Is it still showing up every day?”
Readers responded, offering several complaints about service in the two towns. Seen online:
- “Packages with expected delivery dates are days late. Some days no mail. Sometimes we get notices that items have been delivered and they don't show up for a couple more days.”
- “Very slow. Some days nothing. Does seem like eventually everything gets to us. I have INFORMED DELIVERY which is great!”
- “Slow or no mail. Our carrier is seen in the neighborhood but we still get no mail or we get other people’s mail and they’re often from the other side of town. I have informed delivery so I know what to look for but it’s still not arriving. I’ve had certified mail (my passport) get delivered to my neighbor. It’s as if she just doesn’t look. I’m waiting on a USPS package that I have a delivery confirmation on. Very frustrating.”
- “Last month we didn’t receive mail for two straight weeks. This month another whole week without mail. When I finally received a batch of mail, it wasn’t mine but for an address three blocks away which I delivered.”
- “Our mail delivery has been terrible long before May. It's been several years now that our office in Nutley has not received mail in a timely fashion and many times we get mail addressed to others not just our neighbors' mail but sometimes addressed to people from other streets and even other towns. We experience long delays in receiving mail sent from nearby that would normally arrive the next day but now it may take 4/5 days. Our mail carriers change all the time. As a business, we always got at least 1 or 2 pieces of mail everyday. We now go 2/3 days without any mail not even junk mail. Our home address is a little better but we've had the same carrier for a few years now.”
