NUTLEY, NJ — A car owner recently told Nutley police that someone stole her vehicle – which turned out to be parked around the corner, authorities said.

The Nutley Police Department released the following details about the incident, which was reported on June 4:

“Police responded to a resident on Bloomfield Avenue that reported her 2010 Hyundai stolen. Officers took the vehicle information and entered it in the state database. It was later determined the vehicle was parked around the corner, and had never been stolen.”

The car owner’s “oversight” was removed from the state database, Nutley police added.
