Police Locate Missing Belleville Senior With 'Great Teamwork'
Belleville police thanked their peers in Passaic for lending a hand when a local senior was reported missing.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — It took some teamwork, but a missing Belleville resident has been located – and he’s “safe and sound,” authorities say.
The Belleville Police Department announced that a local senior was reported missing on Sunday morning. The 80-year-old man has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, authorities said.
Police asked for the public’s help, adding that the missing man is known to frequent Passaic.

The Belleville PD provided an update a few hours later, thanking their peers in Passaic for lending a hand with the search:
“We can’t thank @passaicpolicenj enough for their assistance in finding our 80-year-old missing person. [He] was just found safe and sound. This is an example of how we work with our fellow brothers and sisters every day and take on different challenges together. Great teamwork and thank you again to everyone who shared our post and kept [him] in their prayers.”
Belleville Councilman Frank Velez said the entire town is grateful that the missing man was found safe.

“Thank you to both the Belleville Police Department and Passaic Police Department for their work, compassion, and actions in returning this man to his family,” Velez wrote.
