PVSC Removes Large Tree from Belleville's Fairway Park
Commission said removal of 'Sandy' blockage will help control flooding from Third River.
Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission crews cleared a large tree from the Third River on Wednesday. PVSC members said the tree, toppled during Superstorm Sandy, had fallen across the entire width of the river, with the current forcing it to collect smaller trees, branches and debris.
The PVSC crew cleared the tree with its 30-ton crane, then fed it through a wood chipper and cart off the debris. They cleared it on the recommendation of the Belleville Department of Public Works.
