PVSC Worker Teaches Kids To Build Birdhouses In Belleville
The birdhouse workshop was one of several educational initiatives the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission has undertaken in North Jersey.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A coordinator with the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) recently got a chance to teach a classic woodworking project to some local kids in Belleville: how to build a birdhouse.
Chris Brooks, a multi-media program coordinator with the educational outreach program at the PVSC, was one of the participants at Belleville’s recent Green Fair at the high school.
Brooks helped some of the students build birdhouses, which can “improve the ambiance of any outdoor environment,” the PVSC stated in a news release. They can also provide people with an all-natural and organic means for weed control and pest control, as birds eat various types of caterpillars, ants, bugs, moths, larvae, crickets and worms. They also eat all kinds of seeds and sprouts that will grow into weeds.
