Ruiz, Pintor Marin, Speight Win Elections In NJ-29, AP Says
Teresa Ruiz, Eliana Pintor Marin and Shanique Speight will each serve another term in the 29th district (Newark and Belleville).
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Democratic lawmakers Teresa Ruiz, Eliana Pintor Marin and Shanique Speight will each be serving another term in the 29th district of the New Jersey Legislature. The district includes Belleville and Newark.

On Tuesday night, Ruiz thanked voters for casting their ballots for her in the 2021 general election. She ran unopposed.

With 111 of 127 districts reported, Ruiz captured 16,796 votes, according to unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office.
Ruiz posted a message on social media about her Election Day victory.

In the Assembly, Pintor Marin and Speight each fended off a challenge from independent candidate Debra Salters, according to the Associated Press.
With 111 of 127 precincts reported, here are the unofficial results as of Wednesday:
- Eliana Pintor Marin – 16,140 (49.17%)
- Shanique Speight – 15,824 (48.2%)
- Debra Salters – 863 (2.63%)
Pintor Marin congratulated Speight and Ruiz in a social media message on Tuesday evening.
