Sen. Menendez Of NJ Falls, Dislocates Shoulder On Way To Vote

Bob Menendez slipped and fell while rushing to get to a Senate vote. He's in "good spirits," a spokesperson said.

NEW JERSEY — U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey says he is in “good spirits” and will continue his duties in Washington D.C. after a fall that dislocated and fractured his shoulder on Tuesday.

Menendez slipped while getting onto the subway to attend a Senate hearing, crashing to the floor. Although he may need surgery to fix the damage, the senator didn’t miss the votes he’d been trying to make, NJ.com reported.

Francisco Pelayo, a spokesperson for the senator, gave Patch an update on his condition Wednesday afternoon. Pelayo wrote:

“The senator dislocated and fractured his shoulder yesterday on his way to votes. He’s in good spirits and will continue his duties in Washington, advancing priorities for the people of New Jersey.”
