NUTLEY, NJ — More internet-based crimes have been reported in Nutley, police say.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the following incidents recently took place in the township on July 16:
SNAPCHAT EXTORTION – A 27-year-old Nutley man reported that he was extorted after he exchanged “illicit photos” with a female on Snapchat. After he sent the photos, the person sent him photos of his other accounts and threatened to send them to all of his contacts if the victim didn’t send her $700. The victim later sent codes to the unknown woman and reported the incident to the police, authorities said.

DOG FRAUD – A Nutley man trying to purchase a dog from a website was told he needed to send two payments totaling $1,180 to a Zelle account. After sending the money, he was supposed to receive photos of the dog and instructions, but the party on the other end claimed that they never got the payments. They stopped responding to his requests for more information, police said.
The above incidents aren’t the only recent incident of internet or social media fraud in Nutley.
