Stolen Car From Nutley Used In West Orange Vehicle Burglaries: Police
The car's owner said it was filled with gifts from their daughter's baby shower, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A vehicle stolen from Nutley that was filled with gifts from a baby shower was used in several recent car burglaries that took place in West Orange. It was later recovered in Newark, authorities said.
According to the Nutley Police Department, their peers in West Orange reached out to them on Aug. 1 in connection with an investigation into several car burglaries in their township, inquiring about a vehicle that was reportedly involved in the burglaries.

“Officers responded to the home of the owner, where it was discovered that their car had been stolen out of their parking lot. The owner was still in possession of the one ignition key that belonged to the vehicle, and reported that the car [which was locked] was filled with gifts from their daughter’s baby shower.”
There were no signs of forced entry or any physical evidence at the scene, Nutley police said.
Nutley police contacted West Orange police and confirmed that the car was stolen.

The vehicle was eventually recovered in Newark and processed accordingly, authorities said.
