NUTLEY, NJ — A car was stolen in Nutley last week after its owner left it running in the driveway, authorities announced Monday.

The Nutley Police Department released the following statement about the theft, which took place Friday on Ohlson Avenue:

“Officers responded to the area regarding a motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival, the victim stated that they started their car and left it running in the driveway with the key fob still inside. While the victim was returning to the vehicle, they observed three male actors inside the car driving away, followed by another vehicle, a possible Hyundai Tucson. Units were canvassing the area and found the Hyundai, parked with the driver’s door open, still running, with no one in the vehicle. The Nutley resident’s BMW was entered [as] stolen. The owner of the Hyundai was advised of the incident and was unaware their vehicle was stolen from their Newark driveway.”
