Student-On-Student Threat, Assaults Reported In Nutley: Police

Nutley police said a teen has been accused of making terroristic threats. Multiple assaults were also recently reported at local schools.

NUTLEY, NJ — A student-on-student “threat” was recently reported in Nutley, authorities say.

On Thursday, police charged a 15-year-old juvenile in the township with making terroristic threats against a fellow student. No additional information about the incident was immediately available.

It isn’t the only recent incident involving violence or threats at a school in Nutley, authorities have said. Other recent incidents include:

  • Feb. 27 – “A juvenile was charged with aggravated assault. Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Feb. 10, in which a juvenile allegedly punched another juvenile in class. The victim sustained injuries to his face and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.”
  • March 2 – “Police responded to Nutley Middle School in response to an assault. It was reported that one student assaulted another. Police and the school are investigating.”
  • March 2 – “A paraprofessional at a local private school was assaulted by a special needs student. The victim reportedly blacked out as a result of the assault. Police are investigating.”

A local resident questioned the official statement surrounding one of the incidents, writing in an op-ed posted to Tap Into Nutley that “important facts have been left out” of the police account.

“The child being charged as the aggressor is a special education student and has been the victim of bullying that seems to have not been addressed properly by the school system,” the resident alleged.
