Suspected PNC Bank Arts Center Shooter Arrested In Essex County

A 27-year-old Holmdel man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting this week at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.

Quran Powell was arrested in East Orange and has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a firearm.

Two Neptune men - ages 23 and 24 -- were wounded when they were shot around 11:15 p.m. Monday in parking lot 4 of the arts center after the J. Cole concert, authorities have previously said.

Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where they were last listed in critical but stable condition, State Police said.

According to a State Police news release:

Detectives from the New Jersey State Police Troop “D” Criminal Investigations Office, Major Crimes Unit, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office identified Powell as the shooter, and on Wednesday, Monmouth County detectives and the New Jersey State Police T.E.A.M.S Unit, executed a search warrant at Powell’s home.

Based on information gathered when they executed that warrant, detectives learned that Powell could be hiding in an East Orange apartment.

State Police detectives and East Orange police Department found him at an apartment complex on Glenwood Avenue and took him into custody.

He was sent to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, with bail set at $750,000.

State Police told NJ.com that unrelated to the shooting, more than 100 people were arrested at the concert, including 67 who were charged with underage alcohol consumption, 23 for drug possession and one for lewdness.

The investigation is continuing.
