There's Still Time to Groom Your Pooch for the Holidays

Yes, it is Friday and, yes, Santa's leaving the North Pole in about 48 hours, but that "gift of grooming" you owe Fido can still be had. Denise O’Doyle, Belleville resident and owner of Union Avenue-located Denise’s Doggy Stylez, confirms that, “We are good at what we do. We get dogs in and out. I always try to accommodate.”

“We’re normally busy,” says Angie Agosto while shearing a white, male poodle, “but last week it slowed down, but it (business) picks up because everyone holds out (waits to right before the holiday). This is our busiest week of the year.”
A 26-year veteran, O’Doyle worked for another Belleville groomer before opening her own business, and many of her clientele from the prior location followed her to Union Avenue. Also, those who had lost contact with her are, in her words, “starting to find me again. So, we have a lot of old customers, and new ones.”

Denise’s Doggy Stylez does, of course, have quite a few customers living in Belleville; many, in fact, right in the neighborhood who walk their dogs down for appointments. However, Nutley, Bloomfield, and Newark residents also travel to have their dogs groomed. “In fact,” says O’Doyle with a smile, “some people moved away and still come back.”
