Too Hot For School: Single-Session Days In Belleville Amid Heat Wave

Students in Belleville will get a partial break from classes on Thursday and Friday. Thermometers are expected to jump across New Jersey.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — With thermometers expected to rise across New Jersey this week, students in Belleville will get a partial break from classes on Thursday and Friday, officials say.

A heat advisory will be in effect for much of the Garden State, with maximum “feels like” temperatures expected to reach up to 105 degrees on Tuesday, forecasters said. That includes the Belleville Public School District, administrators announced. As seen on the district website: “Due to the impending extreme heat index anticipated for the end of the week, all Belleville Public Schools will operate on single-session days on Thursday, Sept. 7, and Friday, Sept. 8. Please visit the website at www.bellevilleschools.org for school start and dismissal times.”
