Unusual Thefts In Nutley: Wicker Furniture, Sign, Tip Jar, Plants

Several unusual thefts were recently reported in the township, Nutley police say.

Nutley, NJ – Wicker furniture. A realty sign. A tip jar. Plants.

Nutley police stated in their latest blotter that several unusual thefts were recently reported in the township. The incidents included:

  • May 14: Stager Street - Officers responded to the area where the victim stated that an unknown person/s stole their wicker furniture valued at $1,500 from the front porch of their home. The wicker furniture consisted of a chair, rocker, love seat and coffee table with a glass top. Police are investigating this and other incidents in the area.
  • May 15: Church Street – Headquarters received a report regarding the theft of a realty sign that was placed alongside the agent’s home. The sign was valued at $20. The surrounding area was checked with negative results.
  • May 18: Franklin Avenue - Police responded to a local business when an employee reported that their tip jar had been stolen. Police observed a suspicious male fitting the description, provided by the employee, and found a 48-year-old Newark man in possession of the currency, with the jar discarded in close proximity. He was arrested and found to have an active warrant out of Union County. He was assigned a court date and released pending a hearing.
  • May 20 - Whitford Avenue - A resident reported to police that they observed a white male pull up in a Mazda dig several plants from their property place them in his trunk and leave the scene. Police are investigating.
