Victim Of Fiery NJ Turnpike Crash Identified As California Resident
The tragic accident took place when a truck driver swerved to avoid mattresses on the highway, police say.

The New Jersey State Police Department has identified the driver of the tanker truck who lost his life in a fiery crash in Kearny on the NJ Turnpike on Oct. 7.
The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office stated the victim was 40-year-old Kumar Dalip of North Hollywood, California, NJ.com reported.
JSK Transport of Warren, the driver’s employer, identified him as Dalip Kumar, NJ.com added.

According to prior police statements, the accident took place when a Linden man allegedly lost two mattresses and boxsprings out the back of his van, causing Kumar to swerve off the road and flip the tanker over, which was soon engulfed in flames.
Kumar was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene, police stated.

The driver of the van that allegedly dropped the mattresses and boxsprings onto the highway prior to the accident has not been criminally charged, police stated.
