“PSE&G inadvertently damaged a water main in the area of Passaic Avenue and Greylock Avenue. Residents may experience low water pressure in the next several hours during the repair.”

Belleville Town Manager Anthony Iacono told Patch that PSE&G workers inadvertently broke a waterline. He added that the waterline is now fixed, and that there is no boil water advisory in connection with the break.

"The final phase has been completed and all Belleville interconnections are now operable and all water pressure throughout the township is back to standard pressure. Residents that have additional concerns should call the Belleville Water Department at 973-450-3412. Mayor Michael Melham and the entire council would like to thank everyone for their patience during this major repair."

Thursday’s incident is a separate break from the one that took place on Aug. 9 near Branch Brook Park at the border of Belleville and Newark. That break knocked out water pressure in several towns, including Belleville. It also caused a boil water advisory in Belleville, Newark and Bloomfield; each town has since lifted their advisory.

"The pipe that broke belongs to the City of Newark, therefore it is our responsibility to fix it," a spokesperson with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka's office previously told Patch.

Belleville Township purchases treated surface water from the Newark Water Department through four interconnections located on Passaic Avenue, Hilton Street, Joralemon Street, and Belleville Avenue. Read More: Belleville Releases Annual Drinking Water Quality Report

Some residents in Belleville have continued to report low water pressure in the wake of the Aug. 9 main break, an issue that town officials said is expected to resolve this week.
