Woman Hospitalized After Car Crash Near Nutley School: Police

Nutley Police: "Witnesses on scene indicated the driver of the overturned vehicle was trapped and turning blue."

NUTLEY, NJ — A woman was hospitalized after a “rollover” car crash near a school in Nutley on Tuesday, authorities said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers shut down a portion of Washington Avenue for several hours due to the crash. Police released the following statement about the incident, which remains under investigation as of Wednesday:

“A 2014 Subaru rolled over in front of Washington School, taking down signage and hitting a tree. At 3:50 p.m., 911 callers reported the incident that involved a 67-year-old Nutley woman. Witnesses on scene indicated the driver of the overturned vehicle was trapped and turning blue. Fire, EMS and police worked to extricate the woman, and transported her to a nearby hospital.”

No other injuries were reported, police said.
