2nd Berkeley Resident Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Ocean County has six confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus as of Tuesday afternoon.

BERKELEY, NJ — A second Berkeley resident tested positive for the novel coronavirus, officials announced Tuesday. Ocean County has six confirmed cases of the virus as of Tuesday afternoon.

The patient is a woman. The Ocean County Health Department did not immediately provide any further information about her.

The Ocean County Health Department reported two other additional cases Tuesday: a male from Toms River and a woman from Jackson.

The OCHD revealed Sunday that a Berkeley male tested positive for the coronavirus. Officials said he was in stable condition. The OCHD declined to reveal which section(s) of town the patients live in.

Berkeley Mayor Carmen F. Amato has urged residents to remain calm and practice proper hygiene and prevention action, including social distancing. Read more: Berkeley Resident Tests Presumptive Positive For Coronavirus

"What we do collectively over the next 3 to 4 weeks will have a significant impact as we all do our part to 'flatten the curve,'" said Amato, referring to the strategy to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
