A Look Back at the Little League Playoffs

The 8-year-olds from the Berkeley American Little League all-stars got their moment to shine on Tuesday night at the township's Sounds of Summer concert at Veterans Park.

Mayor Jason Varano and Councilman Carmen Amato presented the boys with certificates lauding their work in winning the 8-year-old tournament hosted by the Toms River Little League.

In a district known for producing some terrific all-star teams -- District 18 consistently sends teams to the state tournament and has sent them to the region tournaments at various age groups a number of times in the last 10 years -- capturing a championship is a major accomplishment, said Jim Rainforth, the team's manager.

While other teams in the Berkeley Little League didn't earn the headlines, here's a peek into some of those games.
