An Act Of Kindness During The Storm
Bayville man offers to shovel out people who need help in his Bel Aire Park neighborhood

by Patricia A. Miller
John Holden doesn’t want to see any ambulances racing down the roads of his Bel Aire Park neighborhood in Bayville after the storm departs.
So he has offered his shoveling services to anyone in Bel Aire Park in need free of charge.
Holden posted this message on the Residents of Bel Aire Park Facebook page earlier today.

If you are pregnant, elderly or have a heart condition, I implore you, do not shovel the snow. Reach out to me, I am offering my services tomorrow to come and take care of it for free.

Even if you know of someone that fits this criteria and would like some help or need me to come take care of their house, reach out to me. The last thing I want to see is an ambulance coming to pick someone up because they felt they needed to shovel themselves out and were in no condition to do so.
Secondarily, if this list gets to be too long I may be looking for volunteers to help.

Holden is already a member of Snowcrew.org, a free service to help others with snow removal.
“While they do service this area, I wanted to bring the service closer to home,” Holden said. “I’ve always said I wanted to do more volunteer work. Just finally reached a point where I’m going to stop looking for groups that may bring me far and wide and start doing it on my own.”
And he won’t be using a snowplow. He’ll be shoveling.
“I’ve always felt that plows - while useful for large areas - tend to tear up driveways,” Holden said. “Due to time and energy limitations, my offer is currently only for residents Bel Aire Park.”
