After 89 Years, Berkeley Fish Market To Close Its Doors
Owners of South Seaside Park fixture announce retirement on Facebook; last day set for Sept. 21

After 89 years in business, the Berkeley Restaurant and Fish Market is closing its doors.
“The time has come for Nick and I to retire,” Carol Barulic announced Saturday on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“It is time to make the announcement that the property has been sold to the state to extend Island Beach (State Park); the restaurant will be demolished. We will remain open until September 21 and the bar until September 28,” she wrote.

The Barulic family has owned Berkeley Restaurant and Fish Market since 1937, according to its website; Nick and Carol have operated the business for 40 years, she wrote.
