Flooding Closes Ocean County Roads As Threats Linger

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — Parts of Ocean County are at risk of flash floods Monday as torrential rain continues to drench the area.

Northern Ocean County is under a flash flood warning as of Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

"The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 hour," the National Weather Service said. "Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area."

With the high tide coming up, flooding could be worse near the coast, officials said.

Brick police sent out an alert urging residents to stay home if possible due to flooded roads.

A similar alert was sent out in Point Pleasant Borough, warning about town-wide flooding.

"Due to a storming conditions; multiple roads flooded throughout town," Point Pleasant Beach police said. The flooded areas include routes through Route 35 north and Broadway.

"Heavy rain is moving through the area and causing rapid flooding on roadways," the Ocean County Sherriff's Department said. "If you encounter a flooded road, turn around — do not drive through standing or moving water."
