'Freedom Fuel' Gas Stations Pop Up In NJ: What It Is

The Trump-backed gas station network promoting cheaper gas prices is surrounded by mystery.

South Jerseyans stopping on their commute to fill up their tank may have noticed a new gas station with cheaper prices. The Freedom Fuel Network has been popping up with new gas stations in the Greater Philadelphia area - though it's shrouded in mystery.

Freedom Fuel was announced on July 7 in an X post from the White House, featuring a video of people thanking President Donald Trump for cheaper gas prices.

"This Retailer is taking the lead, and others should follow," Trump himself wrote in a Truth Social post on July 3.

The gas is even being offered at $3.47 a gallon - in honor of Trump being the 47th president - which falls below NJ's average of $3.92 a gallon on July 10, according to AAA.

There are 25 locations in total, with five in New Jersey:

But it's unclear who is behind Freedom Fuel and how it's being funded.

"Your savings begin here," the Freedom Fuel website reads. The website features no information about ownership.

A White House spokesperson told CNN that the federal government is not involved with the Freedom Fuel Network in any way.

"They are simply reducing their margin to make prices at the pump more affordable for drivers in Philadelphia and New Jersey," the spokesperson told CNN.

Freedom Fuel, LLC, was incorporated in Delaware on June 23, 2026; no owner is listed.

It's also unclear how long these gas stations will be offering the $3.47 per gallon gas.
