BERKELEY, NJ — Residents are invited to an Italian flag-raising ceremony on Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. next to the municipal building, according to Mayor John Bacchione.
At the latest Township Council meeting, Bacchione said the flag will be raised "in remembrance of Columbus Day." After the ceremony, attendees will return to the room for food provided at no charge.
Keeping with the Italian theme, Bacchione said the free sandwiches will include eggplant parmesan, chicken parmesan, meatball parmesan, and sausage with peppers, onions and potatoes.
The mayor said the event is open to the public and encouraged residents to attend the ceremony and reception.
The Berkeley Township Municipal Building is located at 627 Pinewald Keswick Road.
